Weave in and weave out
A thread through urban fabric
Sews up the city.

My heart ticks louder
Every second you are late
Where the hell are you?

Monthly theme
Duo
This month’s theme for Matsuyama photography club is “Duo”, where we have to take two pictures to represent our interpretation of this theme. I decided this would be a good chance to use my goldfish as the subjects.
I actually have three “demekin” goldfish, which is Japanese for pop-eyed. Their names are Marilyn (left), Pinky (right) and The Brain. Marilyn has beautiful red lips, cute curves, and a long pleated white tail that flows elegantly as she swims about, just like Marilyn Monroe and her famous white dress. Pinky is skinny, long, and lanky, and always looks somewhat blissfully confused. Finally The Brain is short, fat, and round, with an evil stare and an even eviler frown, who definitely has plans for world domination.
I got all three of them at the same time, and although they all get along peacefully, Marilyn and Pinky definitely have a thing for each other. They’re always swimming around together, caressing each other with their fins and tails, all while The Brain watches from afar… No wonder he looks so pissed. It seems even fish have a thing for lanky guys.
I thought about how if you spend a lot of time with someone, you begin to influence each other and slowly merge over time into one person. I tried to compose two separate images that can stand on their own, but when brought together, creates a much more interesting whole. A strange creature of two halves.
